Help us shape the future of the tech industry

Volunteering with CBK

Volunteers are the backbone of Coded by Kids: a talented group of civically engaged students and professionals supporting our classrooms and directly impacting the lives of our students. As a volunteer, there are several ways you can help facilitate learning and spread the word about our organization. Please follow the guidance below if you're interested in volunteering as an individual or as a part of an organization.

Volunteer Instructor - Individual

CBK Volunteer Instructors work with different age groups and skill sets, sharing their love of tech as well as their career experience. Technical concepts might include HTML, CSS, JavaScript, wireframing, and version control using GitHub. Instructors who can teach coding and/or design are encouraged to apply.

All CBK volunteers must participate in an application process, including an onboarding session, and assistance with necessary paperwork. Once an online application has been submitted, potential volunteers will attend a class visit and orientation. Please note that background checks are required for individuals that volunteer on a recurring basis.

Time Commitment: Two classes per month (~5 hours)

Corporate or Group Volunteers

CBK welcomes representatives from our sponsoring companies and other local organizations to work with our students and expose them to career opportunities. From leading a special topic workshop to hosting an office visit, there are tons of ways for companies to get involved with CBK. In order to help us provide a meaningful volunteer experience for your group, please fill out our Corporate Volunteer Inquiry Form. Once completed, a CBK staff member will reach out to you to discuss your interest.

Time Commitment: varies

Sponsor a Program

We are building a network of forward-thinking companies, professionals, and education advocates dedicated to empowering our students and investing in our programs. Together, we can make sure every child has access to a CbK program in their school or neighborhood throughout their K-12 education. Our sponsors believe in our vision for the tech company of the future--a diverse group of stakeholders coming together to build, create, and problem-solve--and invest in making this vision a reality.

"Empowering individuals with 21st century skills is at the core of what we do at Capital One, both as a philanthropic endeavor through our Future Edge initiative but also as a business strategy. We know there are still many individuals left out of computer science and technology education and organizations like Coded By Kids are imperative to bridging the digital divide. Coded by Kids provides the rare combination of academic rigor and real-life experience needed to support students in their technology endeavors. Capital One is committed to helping individuals of all backgrounds thrive in the digital economy and partnering with Coded by Kids is essential to that work." - Jenn Walters-Michalec, Manager, Community Affairs, Capital One

The work of Coded by Kids would not be possible without generous contributions for our program, organization and event sponsors. Thank you all for your support and your investment in youth tech education!
